The Body Shop presents its Sanctuary Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show to send a message on climate change

THE WHAT? The Body Shop showcased its Sanctuary Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, aiming to send a powerful message about climate change.

THE DETAILS According to a press release, “Bought to life by botanist Jennifer Hirsch, the conceptual garden aims to send a powerful message about the destructive impact of climate change and the emotional drain on young people in the face of societal challenges.”

The Body Shop said the garden sends a message that everyone has a vital role as “custodians of this planet and the people who inhabit it to protect it for future generations”.

According to the RHS, the space and shape of the garden-sculpture is defined by a series of Corten steel arches in various states of char, dividing three planting segments that tell the story of the regeneration of the charred and diminished forest floor to a verdant, diverse explosion of plant life.

THE WHY ? The garden was inspired by the new generation of changemakers and activists and their determination to change the world for the better.

The Body Shop says: “The garden is designed to tell a story of environmental and societal regeneration, connecting the restorative capacities of nature with the resilience of young people in the face of pressures such as climate anxiety.
