Punjab and Haryana HC have demanded a response from Chandigarh MC on a plea from a female firefighter candidate seeking to be either exempted from the test or prescribed a criterion for women
The High Court (HC) of Punjab and Haryana has requested a response from the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC) on a plea demanding clarification on the physical fitness test for female candidates applying for the post of firefighter.
The plea was filed by Rekha Rani, whose case was pending for a compassionate appointment to MCC, after the death of her father, who worked as a gardener, in 2014.
The ministry, in a May 2 communication, had asked him to appear for a physical fitness test on May 27.
Rani claimed there was no physical fitness criteria for women applying for the position of firefighter and in her plea asked that MCC be ordered to either exempt her from the fitness test. physical or to prescribe a separate criterion for candidates.
The HC has requested a response from the civic body by May 25.

Two arrested for attempting to throw drugs into Ferozepur Central Jail
Two people were caught throwing drugs into Ferozepur Central Jail on Sunday evening.
